Quilt # Two

I got antsy during the snow and created this quilt out of scraps.

It's a disappearing nine patch. I think it's for Miss C.

I still need to wash and dry it to get the crinkle,

but I can't seem to throw it in the washing machine.

Feb 27

When I went downstairs this morning, this is what I found:

A celebration for me. My sweet daughter at work.

We went to a Philadelphia Orchestra "Sound All Around" concert for the youngest children.

We waited in the lobby at the Academy of Music.

The musicians from the Philadelphia Orchestra.

My favorite part was after the program, the musicians sat on the edge of the little stage

and the audience members could ask questions.

Lovely dinner and a movie after.

A special day for me. Thanks, Mrs T and Mr T and Miss C.

And thank you for your cards and calls.

HBD to Me!

This is my birthday gift to myself: Uggs. I love them; they keep my feet warm in the house.

Plans

I love snow, but enough is enough! There's a fresh layer as of today, and the front door has an actual drift! With the crazy weather, a person must do something to keep sane: buy tickets for things! (And sew.)

So, coming up: tomorrow - children's "Sound All Around" concert - Philadelphia Orchestra

Next weekend - Pennsylvania Ballet. The following weekend with a visitor from the left hand coast - tickets to the Barnes Foundation Art Gallery.

Makes a person smile!

Weather Update

The rain has come. . . . it's around 40 degrees, and the snow is melting. However, the grass is still totally covered at this house in G Town. As we were driving to Library Time this morning, Miss C and I looked for grass. We saw some . . . . and we saw dairy cows looking for grass through the snow. Most of the rooftops are bare; a few cars that haven't moved for 2 weeks are encased in snow.

Demolition Derby Take 2

For all you demolition derby fans out there!

BIG BIG SNOW

Here's my car covered by the snow. I did get it dug out, and now it has snowed again.

After you dig out your car, if you leave your parking spot you must put a place saver in your spot. So, you get in the car, drive it out into the clear lane on the street, get out, find the garbage can or old chair or whatever. You put the place holder in your spot, get back into the car and go on your way.

When you return, you do the reverse: stop in the middle of the street; move the garbage can, etc, back into your parking place. Then unload your groceries. Of course the porch is full of snow, so the groceries have to be carried around the porch to the front door.

I did some grocery shopping on Sunday which felt like a real chore. The store parking lots have only half of their usual places to park as there are huge piles of snow where the snowplows have pushed the snow. Then do the dance just to get in and out of your home parking spot.

On top of the record-setting snow, we have had flu go through the house:

Miss C then me then Mrs. T.

MORE SNOW

It's steadily coming down! I hate to only talk about this weather, but I feel like I'm at Big White, BC, except that there is no elevation gain!

You can barely see the patio chairs; just a little of the back of the chair is sticking out of the snow.

Throw a couple shrimps on the barbie, OK?

I ventured out as far as the front porch today just to snap a couple photos. The BBQ photo is through the window.

February Snow

Apparently this snow is record setting in the Mid Atlantic region. We have about 18 inches on the ground today left over from Saturday's snowstorm. Another 12 to 18 inches is forecast for tonight.

Miss C enjoys the snow and wanted to make a snowman yesterday; because the snow is so dry, a snowman is difficult if not impossible. Enter the buckets and shovels of summer! Our Miss C was happy as a clam scooping and shoveling this white stuff. "We're at the beach!" She sat right down and made her own variation of a man with snow and carrot.

Sewing and Sewing

This little pillow is made from the t-shirt from the Hospital where Miss C was born.

"I got my first hug at C H Hospital."

(And some cut off legs of Mr T's jeans!)

I tried out "yo-yo's."

And put them on an Ikea pillow.

These fabrics are my next project: a quilt for a class I started last night.

It's bright, but that should keep it interesting. It'll be a sampler quilt with six different blocks.

Demolition Derby

Miss C giggles with delight when Mr T takes her in the little wagon. She loves all the daring-do that her daddy loves, too. The latest is the laundry basket -- spinning around and up and down.

I tried four times to upload the video of Demolition Derby, but I couldn't make it work. . . . . sorry.
