Out on a Limb

What's it like to live in a tree? To be in a nest?

The new exhibit at the Morris Arboretum answers these questions. A huge nest hangs in the tree tops. Cross the bridge. Go inside, sit on the eggs, walk around the nest, look out from this bird's view.

What kind of a bird will hatch?

Squirrels live in the treetops, they run along the tree branches. This netted part of the "Out on a limb" gives you the feeling of running with the squirrels.

This huge trunk is perfect for Peek A Boo.

It was Sunday, after several days of painting, with the project still incomplete. We needed a little break, so took a few hours to live in the trees. The project is finished now; the beautiful white walls and ceiling are a great improvement. Hooray!

Happy Anniversary

It's my 25th anniversary! Many happy memories, 25 years of learning about relationships and learning about myself, and lots of wishes: "If Only . . . . ."

Projects

Back on the right hand coast -- painting. Mrs T and Gma La La spent Monday getting the project started. We're doing the dining area of the kitchen; turning it a clean, bright white. Nap Time on Thursday was spent painting and today as well. Just the final coat of woodwork to finish.

Also, Mrs T and Gma La La went to the parent meeting this week for Miss C's first school. She and Mama or Gma La La will be going each Thursday morning. She can hardly wait!

Friends, Family, Lummi

It must be Seattle!  The Locks . . . 

We met up with Mama J and K at the locks.  Mrs T and J were friends as babies!

The tide was out, we looked in the tide pools, found purple starfish,

watched the sun peek through the mist, spotted a blue heron or two,

watched the Whatcom Chief go back and forth.

Uncle N made music.  What a talented son I have!

I got to see all my friends: dinner with Book Group, dinner with MM, dinner with C & L, and C & T, lunch with M, dinner and a play with J, breakfast with J.  It was the perfect balance of visiting and a relaxing vacation.  Dinner with the D family, time with N.  Perfection!  I think I can do the Right Hand Coast for a few more months.  My year is turning into a year and a half!

Please Touch

Miss C and I visited the Please Touch museum this morning.  When the weather is hot and humid, we get away from the heat here.  We've been at least once a week lately.

Miss C is dwarfed by a 40 foot high arm and torch modeled after 

the Statue of Liberty by Leo Sewell, made out of old toys.

The torch is in the entry hall of the museum, topped off by this dome.

Behind Miss C you can see the river area including the most talked about part: 

a duck pond full of yellow rubber duckies.

The clouds that hang from the ceiling show the cycle of wind, storm, rain, sun, rainbow.

  Miss C spotted the rainbow right away.

"On my Pond" by Kermit the Frog on U-Tube is a favorite for Miss C.

We visited Lancaster County on Saturday to take a buggy ride.  Miss C loved the horses, the tall, tall field corn, the lemonade, and playing around in a quilting shop while Mommy and Gma LaLa picked out fabric.  Mrs T's old friend D came for the weekend and went with us.  The beautiful farmland helps you sigh, let go,  and take a deep breath . . . . 

Sunday we took a quick trip to the BEACH!  With today's heat, the memory of my Atlantic Ocean dip is keeping me cool.  Well, that plus a lots of fans and a little AC.

We had hoped to go to the Beach today, but woke up to rain. . .
